Referring to statements made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a press conference in Birbhum on Sunday, CM Banerjee said, "Amit Shah has spoken garbage of lies yesterday. He claimed our state is 'zero' in industry but we are number one in the MSME sector. He claimed we could not build rural roads but we are number one in that. This is Government of India's information."
Taking aim at the saffron party ahead of the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee went on to say, "BJP is a 'cheatingbaaz' party, for politics they can do anything. We have been opposing CAA since it was passed as law. They [BJP] cannot decide the fate of citizens. Let them decide their own fate. We are against CAA, NPR and NRC."
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also declared that she will be attending an administrative meeting in Birbhum on December 28 followed by a rally on December 29.
Alleging that political violence is at its "peak" in Bengal, Home Minister Amit Shah had said on Sunday, "I want to let everyone know that neither party [BJP] nor party workers will give up to this pressure and pain. We will fight in a democratic way. We will not reply with violence."
Shah also said that Bengal's contribution to the GDP fell from 30 per cent at the time of Independence to 3 per cent.
